About Us

Me
I am a May 2011 Biomedical Engineering graduate from Virginia Commonwealth University and a May 2018 Aeronautical Sciences/Human Factors graduate from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. My goal with my BME degree was to find a way to bring advanced medical technologies into the field of veterinary medicine (be it in prosthetics, tissue, or genetic engineering disciplines). Sometimes your career path wanders, and I have since moved to aerospace working on aircraft, rockets, and missile defense. I love animals, and have always been passionate about animal health, safety, training, and care.

My desire to learn as much as I can for/about Ruby has led me to discover a few interesting facts about horse care- in fact, many common practices that were the norm back in the day are now being criticized, as advances in medical technology allow us to study horses in a way that was never before possible. I am no expert, and my opinions here are just that- opinions, but I would like to share what I have found either way. Any comments, questions, or criticism is most certainty welcome.

Ruby
Ruby is a 2004 Connemara/Quarter Horse cross pony (didn't quite make it to 14.2hh) who loves peppermints, butterscotch, carrots, and granola bars. She enjoys trail rides, splashing in creeks, and giving me a hard time. There is a saying in the horse world that "A horse will always make a liar out of you," and she makes a point of calling me out when I am wrong. Despite those days where I threaten to turn her into glue, I love her, and am glad that she is there to teach me, since she is just as stubborn as I!

We sincerely hope that our findings are helpful to you and you four-legged soul mate!
